How is a linocut print made?
Linocut is a printmaking technique in which a sheet of linoleum is used for the relief surface. My prints begin as pencil sketches on linoleum blocks which are then lined in pen before carving. Each linoleum block is hand-carved in low relief using gauging tools & knives. For multi colored prints, a separate block is carved for each color. Blocks are inked with a roller or brayer and then impressed onto paper or fabric by hand.
